We’re briefing CEDAW on AI !
Incredibly excited to announce that Women at the Table have been asked to brief CEDAW, the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women experts, on artificial intelligence and algorithms and women’s rights and gender equality.
We have done a tremendous amount of work on this subject beginning with our first position paper We Shape Our Tools and Thereafter Our Tools Shape Us, and the Women at the Table / <A+> Alliance Declaration for Affirmative Action Algorithms.
The briefing follows on from Women at the Table’s brief to the European Commission Gender Equality Unit in the spring. We hope to make a clear case to CEDAW about the outsized impact biased artificial intelligence is having and will continue exponentially to have on the lives of women and girls in every corner of the world.
We respectfully and happily would request any of your thoughts on this collaborative conversation on this critical topic as we ready our presentation for mid February.
