The A+ Alliance for Inclusive Algorithms is pleased to announce that Code for Africa and Women at the Table will now co-lead our global coalition advancing gender equality in AI and new emerging technology.
A New Chapter in Digital Equity
Since our founding in 2019, the A+ Alliance has worked to ensure that women and girls in all their intersections and forms are included in the creation and governance of algorithmic systems that increasingly shape our world. After successful co-leadership with Tecnológico de Costa Rica from 2021-2024 focusing on building a feminist AI research network, we’re excited to continue our mission with two powerhouse organizations at the helm.
This partnership unites Women at the Table’s expertise in feminist governance with Code for Africa’s groundbreaking technical leadership in civic technology, creating a formidable team to drive our work in advocating for Inclusive Algorithms.
Our Continued Mission
The A+ Alliance remains committed to our founding principles:
- Establishing accountability and transparency for algorithmic decision-making
- Including women and girls as influential partners in the creation, design, and deployment of automated systems
- Promoting international cooperation grounded in human rights
As we face the rapid deployment of AI systems across society, the need for our work has never been more urgent. Together with our global network of partners, we will continue to correct real-life biases and barriers that prevent women from achieving full participation and enjoyment of their rights in the digital age.
Moving Forward Together
This new leadership structure will strengthen a new Digital Guardians network and expand our Gender Equality and AI Sandbox initiative, providing powerful tools for women’s rights organizations and allies worldwide.
